On Saturday morning, September 29th 2012, the inauguration ceremony of the new Technogym Headquarters took place in the production area of the factory, in front of Italian President Giorgio Napolitano, the Health Secretary Renato Baldazzi , and Architect Antonio Citterio. At the end of the ceremony and of the inauguration of the Technogym Village, President Napolitano took the floor and said: “Visiting this extraordinary compound has been a wonderful experience”. He added then, ironically: “If I ever get a second life, I know what I have to do”. He then talked about the American concept of the Self Made Man: “It is not true that America is the only country where the Self Made Man has excelled. Nerio Alessandri and his brother are the Italian example of people who made it with their own efforts.” During the afternoon, the twentieth Wellness Congress took place, where the focus was on “Wellness Economy as a development of the Green Economy” with closing remarks delivered by former US President Bill Clinton, who today heads the famous Clinton Foundation, fighting child obesity. After presenting some medical assistance projects in poor countries such as Ethiopia and Rwanda, Clinton has spoken about obesity in rich and developed countries, like the US, underlining the fundamental role played by food culture and wellness culture.
